My first book in Portuguese! It is really not great literature. Of course, I can not judge about Coelho’s ability to write beautiful sentences but I can say that the story and the plot is rather platitudinous. He tells us well-known facts he obviously had read in newspapers, e.g. that the war in Slovenia lasted only three weeks. And there are many more examples of this habit.
But for me it was great because I did not need a dictionary to read it and I learned a lot of new words. For me not a waste of time but if you look for a good story stay away.
