Maybe this is heresy but I found the movie much better. It is worth reading due to the perfection of Ondaatje’s writing but interestingly enough the romance did not touch me. I did some research on Almásy which is the historical figure for the English patient. He has almost nothing to do with the novel character. Which is not bad by itself but an interesting fact.
