Uncle Oswald is a great story teller. Uncle Oswald is a big liar and Casanova was an amateur compared to him – would say his enemies. Since he is a great story teller – exactly like Casanova was one – the book is great fun to read. The adventures are so absurd that you need to ensure your anchor in the reality. All around him are normal, they go only “mad” when they exposed to the strongest aphrodisiac known on earth, made out of a Sudanese beetle. And Uncle Oswald brought it from Sudan to Europe to get rich.
First he sold it only to the male high society in Paris – where else. Later he realised that it requires more sophisticated strategies to be sustainable rich. He wants to create a sperm bank with the celebrities of living scientists, artists and the European aristocracy. Of course, the difficulty is to decide who will be famous in twenty years.
He partners with a scientist who found the right procedure to conserve sperm as well as with a gifted whore who helps to “steal” sperm from those celebrities. The Sudanese beetle plays a vital role in these visits to get the precious liquid and the certificate that the sperm is indeed from the respective celebrity. It is just so funny to read their tour throughout Europe and America. Roald Dahl has his unique view on each of those celebrities they visit.
