by J.R. Moehringer
A novel about the bar as location and home, and how important it can be in one’s life. That is the marketing tagline. I read it for this reason. Unfortunately the marketing tagline betrays us. The best moments when you here the bar people with their bar wisdom and the ever-repeating tough-talking. That is funny an authentic. But the book is actually an autobiography about a guy who grew up in a bar, became an alcoholic and clean again. Not bad, but too long and the marketing people know to sell it well. They burnt an otherwise good author for me. Never again.
