by Richard Stark
“Ask the Parrot” is the original title. But what if this parrot doesn’t speak? parker wouldn’t lose his temper even if the parrot could not answer his questions. Parker is superhuman, almost a machine, he kills and steals if necessary. But are on his side, and somehow you believe him his attitude – even if it is superhuman. That seems to me the secret of these Parker novels. It is not very sophisticated literature, just very well-done crime stories to bridge your idle time.
Richard Stark is one of the many pseudonyms of Donald. E. Westlake uses in his work. The Parker novels are always written as Richard Stark. Westlake was an author of incredible output. it reminds me to Georges Simenon. Usually I would ignore it because this kind of “creativity” is one of my stereotypes of trivial literature. I am happy that I overcame my prejudices. in this case.
