by Fjodor Dostojewski
“The Gambler” – finally I read it, I expectedly liked it, and intentionally I do not rite any analysis or summary for you. Of course, Dostoyevsky calls for psychological analysis. But for that precise reason dozens of PhD thesis in every mayor language exist on this topic. I personally was not so much interested in the brilliant depiction of the superficial and decadent Western lifestyle. I read quickly through it in order to reach as quickly as possible the feverish scenes at the Roulette table. I did not have a lot of compassion with the gambler himself but with the stepmother. This strong Russian woman, which is expected to leave a huge heritage, seems so wise. But looses also everything at the Roulette table. Epic!
