Much has been written about this book in Germany, what can be summarized as follows: despite of the simple style of writing it draws the reader in. I listened to it in the audiobook version and this might be the right way since the presumably style matches so well with the style of the protagonist. Sasha a female teenage Russian immigrant tells her struggle to come to grip with the murder of his mother. She was murder by her stepfather Vadim. It is also about growing up in that immigrant ghetto, the first sexual experiences, and finally accepting that life must go on.
