by Joseph Conrad
Actually I started to read it because I found Conrad’s biography interesting. Born in the Ukraine as Józef Teodor Konrad Nalecz Korzeniowski, he spent around 20 years as mariner, first for the French and a long time for the British until he became a writer. Now I can say that I am exited with the book because in this book he writes about the Congo and his trip to the heart of darkness. I live now in a tropical climate and I suffer sometimes when I can not reach fast enough an air-conditioned room. I understand every single line describing the suffocating and mind disturbing environment. Besides this, he is just a good writer. But do not read it if you have no connection with adventures in hot climates and what it can do to you regarding your assured feeling and sureness. It is disturbing but maybe to far away from everything we know today.
