abstract = {Blasting as many other mining processes depend directly or indirectly on the geologic model of the deposit; modelled parameters include grades, hardness, material type, density and natural fragmentation. All of them are important to the blast design. Depending on the specific operation, the basis for these models is exploration data and usually scarce samples in-situ to improve the accuracy as the operation advances. Subsequently the prediction certainty is not very high for taking informed day-to-day decisions. One possible source to get to more detailed measurements is the drilled blast holes. Drills equipped with modern GPS-based machine guidance systems and their integration with the on-board sensors can provide a variety of geo-referenced indicators, from which relevant rock parameters can be interfered. One popular and well-accepted indicator is the specific drilling energy.
The challenge is to correlate the specific drilling energy to the parameters of interest. In the presented use case the correlated parameter is the blast index. The blast index determines directly the spacing for the planned blast grid. Additionally, the distribution and type of explosives can be adjusted according to the ranges of the specific drilling energy in the drill hole. Both controls can lead to savings of explosives up to 25%. This goal can be obtained by selecting the right grid spacing thus avoiding unnecessary excess of drill holes. The latter technique is often applied to achieve the desired optimal fragmentation for the crusher. The presentation details the necessary equipment configuration, the implemented algorithms to get to the specific drilling energy, and its application to the blast index parameter. abstract = {Los sistemas de navegación son usados desde hace 15 años en la minería. Siendo parte integral de la operación minera tal como de la planeación a corto plazo. Los objetivos principales de estos sistemas son; el control del nivel de piso, la excavación selectiva de distintos materiales, navegación por pozos planificados, cálculo de avance y retroalimentación al sistema de planificación con datos actuales de la operación en tiempo real. De esta manera, se puede ahorrar costos en; los equipos de Geomensura, re trabajo para nivelación de piso, eliminación de cargas mal-direccionadas, mezclas de productos final sin perdidas, y por ende aumentar la tasa de excavación por la mejor fragmentación del material. El gran desafío hoy en día es la seguridad operacional. Todavía no existen tecnologías lideres en el mercado, debido a que esos sistemas muchas veces no se integran bien con los sistema instalados en cada faena y se enfocan solo en resolver parte del problema o algo especifico. Este último factor causa una mayor complejidad en la mantención de los sistemas y una distracción a los operadores debido a múltiples pantallas en la cabina, en vez de asegurar una operación segura. MMS presentada una solución que permite integrar los nuevos desarrollos en el campo de la seguridad en sistemas existentes. Basedo en un abordaje de varias capas de seguridad paralelas y complementarias. La solución considera la integración de varios tipos de tecnología, de precisión y de proveedores. Se presenta como una plataforma de integración adicional a la operación y el estado mecánico de los equipos, con un enfoque en la seguridad. El desafío para el futuro es el filtraje de eventos para informar al operador solamente sobre hechos relevantes. En un futuro próximo la interacción vía voz, va a ser incorporado a estos sistemas como se puede observarlo en el sector de la industria de automóviles. Esto requiere mayor investigación en el ámbito de las formas de comunicación maquina-humano, su estandarización y la adaptación al contexto de maquinas pesadas.},
